If you get -1 fitness from weight trait you'll need to be a Firefighter or else this trait is terrible and completely wasted. and our It might make sense for Smoker to eventually be possible to get rid of, but it looks like it's permanent for now (maybe it represents those people who can never truly ditch the addiction, and not just anyone who's addicted). ._3oeM4kc-2-4z-A0RTQLg0I{display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex;-ms-flex-pack:justify;justify-content:space-between} Probably gonna go back and alter some things. In order to survive, you do have to put in a little more effort, but you earn more points in return. https://discord.gg/theindiestone, Press J to jump to the feed. It's a complete joke as-is. Also IRL Nervous Wreck. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. And leveling up shooting is fairly easy with so many zombies and a few boxes of shotgun shells. Nimble along with weapon proficiency and fitness is the key to taking on sizable groups effectively. That fire officer + underweight combo is pretty awesome. Way more than exercise. Impacts combat a lot less than you'd think, especially since your character panics no matter what when they see a horde early-game. Water is very easy to find, not worth 6 points, stops you from taking high thirst. I mostly based the ratings on standard settings and aimed at new players. Conspicuous doesn't really make much of a difference; Zombies that look in your direction can and usually will spot you anyway. In addition to slow reader and slow learner, it looks like pacifist is just an XP penalty for weapons, so it could be taken alongside them if you're willing to put up with all that extra grind. The +2 boosts will be insanely useful from the early to late game. I used to not run it, but I think I'll always run it in the future ever since using it. Axe and long blunt boosted, 2 great weapon choices. I would put Keen Hearing way higher. I dont like smoker cause I hate micromanaging smokes, but if you dont mind it its pretty good too. Take with outdoorsman to negate most of the negative effects and gain 2 free points. And when You have 9 fitness it's not going to cause any problems, so probably even 4/5 if you have 9 fitness. PERSONALLY my ideal car is a Horizon or Dart with a 100/100 performance muffler so I would not want Speed Demon to ruin the stealthmobile. @keyframes _1tIZttmhLdrIGrB-6VvZcT{0%{opacity:0}to{opacity:1}}._3uK2I0hi3JFTKnMUFHD2Pd,.HQ2VJViRjokXpRbJzPvvc{--infoTextTooltip-overflow-left:0px;font-size:12px;font-weight:500;line-height:16px;padding:3px 9px;position:absolute;border-radius:4px;margin-top:-6px;background:#000;color:#fff;animation:_1tIZttmhLdrIGrB-6VvZcT .5s step-end;z-index:100;white-space:pre-wrap}._3uK2I0hi3JFTKnMUFHD2Pd:after,.HQ2VJViRjokXpRbJzPvvc:after{content:"";position:absolute;top:100%;left:calc(50% - 4px - var(--infoTextTooltip-overflow-left));width:0;height:0;border-top:3px solid #000;border-left:4px solid transparent;border-right:4px solid transparent}._3uK2I0hi3JFTKnMUFHD2Pd{margin-top:6px}._3uK2I0hi3JFTKnMUFHD2Pd:after{border-bottom:3px solid #000;border-top:none;bottom:100%;top:auto} Maintenance is great though. Avoid. Panic while performing first aid isnt really an issue. I'll start with the ones I've been able to determine: Feeble Obese Out of Shape Overweight Poor eyesight (uncertain, but open to others testing) Underweight Unfit Very Underweight Weak Community provided temporary traits: Pacifist + fast learner combo is broken. 142. One decent trait for getting a couple of points back is of course slow reader. Short Sighted: 4/5 I think even when it is functioning (I think it doesn't do anything right now). Stay aware of your surroundings and it wont be a problem. Most positive. Out of shape, unfit - by training fitness. Hard of Hearing does the opposite, making it that much easier to be snuck up on by a quiet zombie. Along with surviving the most obvious threat of flesh eating undead you will have to navigate your character's psyche as well as stress will impact your character's ability to deal with their situation. Sunday Driver: 2. I don't see very many discussions on this topic, and the wikis are barren with which traits can go away aside from those as a result of the recent Fitness update. You will wake up close to tired. While you might be shuddering at the thought of making one of the survival mechanics in a survival RPG even worse to deal with dont! As its an RPG game you are developing your own story, so play as you wish. I mostly agree with you, with differences probably coming from differences in play style. Traits are divided up into positive traits that cost points to have, and negative traits that give you points to spend. However, keep in mind you won't have this button in multiplayer, so we would avoid choosing it withmultiplayer characters. Speaking of underweight as a negative trait.. One tiny mistake and the character youve had for a few in-games weeks/months is gone and so are your skills. -2 Fitness, Description: Low strength, low endurance and prone to injury. Even for multiplayer. It's a pretty genuine tradeoff, not to mention it's annoying to listen to most game sounds muffled. Unless TIS changed something Poor Eyesight is permament, used to pick that one and survived for couple of months and it didn't go away but it was long time ago in a galaxy far, far away What about if you quit smoking? In a game where getting injured has a high chance of death, you won't want to get hurt often anyway. All trademarks are property of their respective owners in the US and other countries. I picked ugly, underweight, social anxiety, bald, oversleeper and underachiever. It really does much of the same as Fast Reader when it comes to saving time, and you rated that a 2. Late, but the thing with Short Sighted in this particular guide from OP is just that at the moment it's seemingly free points, so they don't personally use it. In order to start playing, your points must have a total of 0. But at that point you might as well give your character 2 extra points in the settings. Panic cancels out boredom, turning claustrophobia into a big-brain strat. Foraging is useful. Cannot take Wakeful, and also has the opposite effect of Wakeful. Iron Gut: Easy 1/5. When you want to be a peace-loving character, it makes you less likely to kill zombies with a weapon, but it's a nice trait to debuff your character with. Even with prone to illness and prolonged periods of being soaking wet I've never caught a cold. Just confirming what you stated about keen hearing. .c_dVyWK3BXRxSN3ULLJ_t{border-radius:4px 4px 0 0;height:34px;left:0;position:absolute;right:0;top:0}._1OQL3FCA9BfgI57ghHHgV3{-ms-flex-align:center;align-items:center;display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex;-ms-flex-pack:start;justify-content:flex-start;margin-top:32px}._1OQL3FCA9BfgI57ghHHgV3 ._33jgwegeMTJ-FJaaHMeOjV{border-radius:9001px;height:32px;width:32px}._1OQL3FCA9BfgI57ghHHgV3 ._1wQQNkVR4qNpQCzA19X4B6{height:16px;margin-left:8px;width:200px}._39IvqNe6cqNVXcMFxFWFxx{display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex;margin:12px 0}._39IvqNe6cqNVXcMFxFWFxx ._29TSdL_ZMpyzfQ_bfdcBSc{-ms-flex:1;flex:1}._39IvqNe6cqNVXcMFxFWFxx .JEV9fXVlt_7DgH-zLepBH{height:18px;width:50px}._39IvqNe6cqNVXcMFxFWFxx ._3YCOmnWpGeRBW_Psd5WMPR{height:12px;margin-top:4px;width:60px}._2iO5zt81CSiYhWRF9WylyN{height:18px;margin-bottom:4px}._2iO5zt81CSiYhWRF9WylyN._2E9u5XvlGwlpnzki78vasG{width:230px}._2iO5zt81CSiYhWRF9WylyN.fDElwzn43eJToKzSCkejE{width:100%}._2iO5zt81CSiYhWRF9WylyN._2kNB7LAYYqYdyS85f8pqfi{width:250px}._2iO5zt81CSiYhWRF9WylyN._1XmngqAPKZO_1lDBwcQrR7{width:120px}._3XbVvl-zJDbcDeEdSgxV4_{border-radius:4px;height:32px;margin-top:16px;width:100%}._2hgXdc8jVQaXYAXvnqEyED{animation:_3XkHjK4wMgxtjzC1TvoXrb 1.5s ease infinite;background:linear-gradient(90deg,var(--newCommunityTheme-field),var(--newCommunityTheme-inactive),var(--newCommunityTheme-field));background-size:200%}._1KWSZXqSM_BLhBzkPyJFGR{background-color:var(--newCommunityTheme-widgetColors-sidebarWidgetBackgroundColor);border-radius:4px;padding:12px;position:relative;width:auto} Create an account to follow your favorite communities and start taking part in conversations. Athletic 5; Strong 3. MUST HAVE Negative Traits - Project Zomboid Swayed 2.04K subscribers Subscribe 6.2K views 2 weeks ago #0121 Give these Negative Traits a try and tell me what you think! Grinding out strength and fitness is such a chore and almost impossible at the higher levels so Ill at least take either Strong or Athletic, if not both. Consensus I've gotten from others on Cat's Eyes definitely makes it at least a 3. Find the official Discord here: Id always take one of these. Whether you get lucky with a tub of ice cream in the freezer or come across a couple of sticks of butter putting on long-term weight is not so hard in Project Zomboid. Luckily, we will go over some of the best negative traits we like to pick during our playthroughs. Pacifist. It's actually difficult to keep weight on my character with how much I jog around, which as I've found with the Minimal Display Bars mod, burns a ton of calories. I like it, but more importantly a lot of other people consider it very useful as well. While water will shut off during the first month of the game, it's easy to find . But that being said, if you want a character that is going to survive for a very long time, this doesnt really matter. There is a great video out there about it and TLDW, its only use is if you pass a window the zombie has a slightly less chance of seeing you, but if u r in the open, forget it. Handy - little carpentry boost, considering additional construction health there won't be random hordes of zombies coming to your base late into the game, so no real need for more durable constructions in SP. Underweight is your friend. You'll never get cold in this game (on default climate settings) with all the access to clothing layers, and how unpowered buildings magically heat for huge amounts. Never found a lack of food to be an issue personally. If youre being stealthy you can generally avoid getting into danger but youre right. Runner: 3/5. Not exact numbers, but a zombie that has a 100% chance to see you on a tile per tick with inconspicuous might only have a 92% chance. /*# sourceMappingURL=https://www.redditstatic.com/desktop2x/chunkCSS/IdCard.ea0ac1df4e6491a16d39_.css.map*/._2JU2WQDzn5pAlpxqChbxr7{height:16px;margin-right:8px;width:16px}._3E45je-29yDjfFqFcLCXyH{margin-top:16px}._13YtS_rCnVZG1ns2xaCalg{font-family:Noto Sans,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:400;line-height:18px;display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex}._1m5fPZN4q3vKVg9SgU43u2{margin-top:12px}._17A-IdW3j1_fI_pN-8tMV-{display:inline-block;margin-bottom:8px;margin-right:5px}._5MIPBF8A9vXwwXFumpGqY{border-radius:20px;font-size:12px;font-weight:500;letter-spacing:0;line-height:16px;padding:3px 10px;text-transform:none}._5MIPBF8A9vXwwXFumpGqY:focus{outline:unset} So over time your panic generation decreases so it kinda goes away, also you can stand outside and click on something to sleep on and it'll work, you can also speed up time and your panic will go down, then right click sleep. While the power is still working throughout the world you can get water from any kitchen or bathroom, after the power and water have been cut off of course you can boil water using a campfire to make it drinkable. Not very useful, prevents you from taking prone to illness which is a very good negative trait to take. Provides a 30% XP boost on top of existing boosts to ALL skills. This one will really depend on the type of character you want to play and which version of the game you are playing. There's also an unlisted benefit that's hard to quantify but lets you literally hear zombies from behind you as if they were in front of you. Pair with cowardly (or agoraphobic) and you have a very speedy character. 25% slower xp gain with weapons. This one may be a no-go for you and I can understand that. Once you get to a normal weight, its 6 free points. Reduces sound. For only 2 points this perk is a must-have. The only reason it isn't more highly ranked is after a few months you get less and less panic from zombies anyway. I'd rather level up dancing or piano (an actual mod skill). Similar to angler, if you want to use long blunt take this perk, otherwise, don't. Like I can be facing forward and hear an out-of-place moan and know that there's a zombie behind me but still not in my perception circle. Take weak stomach instead. +1. 4 & 5- Always worth considering when making a new character. You still can hear zombies that are sneaking up on you if you're actually listening to the game, the sound is just a bit muffled. The bonus to crafted structures is nice too but not a major selling point. I'll start with the ones I've been able to determine: Feeble Obese Out of Shape Overweight Poor eyesight . ._2cHgYGbfV9EZMSThqLt2tx{margin-bottom:16px;border-radius:4px}._3Q7WCNdCi77r0_CKPoDSFY{width:75%;height:24px}._2wgLWvNKnhoJX3DUVT_3F-,._3Q7WCNdCi77r0_CKPoDSFY{background:var(--newCommunityTheme-field);background-size:200%;margin-bottom:16px;border-radius:4px}._2wgLWvNKnhoJX3DUVT_3F-{width:100%;height:46px} This is a real challenge to start with and a pain in the ass to raise your fitness. .ehsOqYO6dxn_Pf9Dzwu37{margin-top:0;overflow:visible}._2pFdCpgBihIaYh9DSMWBIu{height:24px}._2pFdCpgBihIaYh9DSMWBIu.uMPgOFYlCc5uvpa2Lbteu{border-radius:2px}._2pFdCpgBihIaYh9DSMWBIu.uMPgOFYlCc5uvpa2Lbteu:focus,._2pFdCpgBihIaYh9DSMWBIu.uMPgOFYlCc5uvpa2Lbteu:hover{background-color:var(--newRedditTheme-navIconFaded10);outline:none}._38GxRFSqSC-Z2VLi5Xzkjy{color:var(--newCommunityTheme-actionIcon)}._2DO72U0b_6CUw3msKGrnnT{border-top:none;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-metaText);cursor:pointer;padding:8px 16px 8px 8px;text-transform:none}._2DO72U0b_6CUw3msKGrnnT:hover{background-color:#0079d3;border:none;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-body);fill:var(--newCommunityTheme-body)} Maintenance and carpentry are essential skills. This means driving through bushes, towing vehicles, and having to life-or-death plow through zombies, will fail horribly. Along the same lines as thin-skinned Hemophobic is another great trait for those that are pretty good at avoiding combat. Towing is broken in the latest update but Sunday Driver has always made towing difficult to impossible. Underweight - 6 points. I don't see very many discussions on this topic, and the wikis are barren with which traits can go away aside from those as a result of the recent Fitness update. You can simply plant a couple more crops to get the same effect. Carry weight before encumbrance didnt increase, nor did the maximum 50 carry weight cap. Slow Healer (doesn't really matter; also don't get hurt), High Thirst (water is trivial unless you have month-long drought), Underweight (just gorge yourself on perishable food before the power goes out), Smoker (this is a positive trait disguised as a negative one), Prone to Illness (free points; just don't sit out in the rain naked for hours), Hearty Appetite (food isn't much of a problem and you need to eat enough calories to maintain a healthy weight anyway), Conspicuous (it makes you more likely to be spotted, but zombies are doing lots of spot checks anyway so it doesn't matter much), Weak Stomach (you shouldn't be eating bad food regardless, so this is free points), Short Sighted (it's broken and only decreases your foraging radius), Cowardly (unless you're going up against giant hordes panic isn't really an issue, and Beta Blockers are plentiful), Slow Reader (it's annoying but not bad, you just spend more time fast-forwarding in your base). Want an overweight lumberjack? The best traits in Project Zomboid are Short Sighted, High Thirst and Weak Stomach, they are examples of traits that cause little to no inconvenience and or are easy to fix. It is 99% the answer to all these posts. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, The subreddit for Project Zomboid. Makes driving while towing, or driving already slow/heavy vehicles (especially modded ones) a nightmare. This perk probably wont get you killed, but i fucking hate playing with it. Only reason it's not 4 is because it's not required. Description: Panic when performing first aid on self, cannot perform first aid on others, gets stressed when bloody. On the flip side weak is very good points for this reason. Don't have to mash the accelerator all the time. They need to balance the other crops so that there's reason to grow them, and maybe add a requirement to farming to grow corn or wheat (which could be converted into non-perishables). ._9ZuQyDXhFth1qKJF4KNm8{padding:12px 12px 40px}._2iNJX36LR2tMHx_unzEkVM,._1JmnMJclrTwTPpAip5U_Hm{font-size:16px;font-weight:500;line-height:20px;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-bodyText);margin-bottom:40px;padding-top:4px;text-align:left;margin-right:28px}._2iNJX36LR2tMHx_unzEkVM{-ms-flex-align:center;align-items:center;display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex}._2iNJX36LR2tMHx_unzEkVM ._24r4TaTKqNLBGA3VgswFrN{margin-left:6px}._306gA2lxjCHX44ssikUp3O{margin-bottom:32px}._1Omf6afKRpv3RKNCWjIyJ4{font-size:18px;font-weight:500;line-height:22px;border-bottom:2px solid var(--newCommunityTheme-line);color:var(--newCommunityTheme-bodyText);margin-bottom:8px;padding-bottom:8px}._2Ss7VGMX-UPKt9NhFRtgTz{margin-bottom:24px}._3vWu4F9B4X4Yc-Gm86-FMP{border-bottom:1px solid var(--newCommunityTheme-line);margin-bottom:8px;padding-bottom:2px}._3vWu4F9B4X4Yc-Gm86-FMP:last-of-type{border-bottom-width:0}._2qAEe8HGjtHsuKsHqNCa9u{font-size:14px;font-weight:500;line-height:18px;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-bodyText);padding-bottom:8px;padding-top:8px}.c5RWd-O3CYE-XSLdTyjtI{padding:8px 0}._3whORKuQps-WQpSceAyHuF{font-size:12px;font-weight:400;line-height:16px;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-actionIcon);margin-bottom:8px}._1Qk-ka6_CJz1fU3OUfeznu{margin-bottom:8px}._3ds8Wk2l32hr3hLddQshhG{font-weight:500}._1h0r6vtgOzgWtu-GNBO6Yb,._3ds8Wk2l32hr3hLddQshhG{font-size:12px;line-height:16px;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-actionIcon)}._1h0r6vtgOzgWtu-GNBO6Yb{font-weight:400}.horIoLCod23xkzt7MmTpC{font-size:12px;font-weight:400;line-height:16px;color:#ea0027}._33Iw1wpNZ-uhC05tWsB9xi{margin-top:24px}._2M7LQbQxH40ingJ9h9RslL{font-size:12px;font-weight:400;line-height:16px;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-actionIcon);margin-bottom:8px} I agree that dexterous is mandatory and I couldnt play without it. I'll pose this question to you all so that a list may be compiled: what are all the negative traits that can go away with time? Yes good call with the Thin-skinned. Tldr get outdoorsman if you get prone to illness and thin skinned. Athletic is non negotiable. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. Waste of one point. Im not sure why you rate hiker and gardener so highly. Conspicuous: 3/5. Create an account to follow your favorite communities and start taking part in conversations. S-Tier. Tomatoes do have a reason to be grown in that they can be used in mouse traps (IDK why), however they're still bad because the plants grow too few tomatoes and take too long to grow in comparison to cabbage. https://discord.gg/theindiestone, Press J to jump to the feed. If you don't want to use the skill don't bother, but id encourage anyone to use this skill as much as possible. No brainer. With Sunday Driver, your vehicle will not perform when you need it. Only worth taking if you have slow modded vehicles. 2- Not directly harmful, but either a bit too expensive or too situational to be worth using. The end result is usually pulling a few more zombies than you would without the trait, making it a decent negative trait for a combat build. I'll pose this question to you all so that a list may be compiled: what are all the negative traits that can go away with time? Of course, some are rendered irrelevant by the extreme end game: Slow reader is not relevant after all books have been read, neither is slow learner after all skills are maxed out / max level is reached. Significantly defeats the purpose of using vehicles. Strength is difficult to level up, dont take this. Unhappiness rises when tobacco is not smoked. I never play without it. I mostly agree with your list but I also play in sandbox so some of my settings change the importance of things. I replace hemophobic with claustrophobic, there are a few tricks that make it not a big deal. Overpriced but underrated IMO. 2 Skills boosted, but there are probably more useful perks you can take. Handy: 5/5 literally the only trait to give Maintenance, AND the only trait to give Carpentry. Becomes a less of an issue with fast learner, but having high levels in weapon skills is essential for combat. But keep in mind that you will need to deal with this trait's adverse side effects for the early portion of your game, which islow endurance and endurance regeneration. Although it seems daunting at first, a good source of water is really not that hard to come across. When fast forwarding tasks, it gives you enough time to react and kill surprise zombies. To achieve this, you will need to balance out positive traits with negative ones. This in turn will help your character not to get panicked as quickly. You call it a "waste of points" yet for some reason still give it a 2. It's a metagame thing; really 5/5 because the point of a game is to be enjoyable, not literally waste your time doing literally nothing. Plus the fact that each of them gives you 10 whole points to spend on skills is wild. The Best Positive Traits in Project Zomboid Build 41. I always take wakeful so I have more time for zombie stomping in a day. And do they have any negatives that stick forever? I tested it and i dont think organized applies to the player's inventory.
